"Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way." - Bokonon |
Seeing Bruce Springsteen perform this on Jimmy Fallon a couple nights ago got me thinking about songs that have been covered (both Bruce and Patti Smith own writing credits on the song, I guess his doesn’t count as a true “cover”) over and over again…Which is the best version? Does this follow the “Pizza Cognition Theory” whereby the first version you’ve heard will always be your definition of what the song should sound like and thereby everything will be judged on that scale?
Any other songs that you can name like this?
